We are a dedicated consultancy focused on helping organisations move away from big tech digital services.

We think with you: first we get an understanding of your organisation's workflows and requirements, so that we can research and suggest possible ways forward in order to inform your decisions.

We can help you understand the costs of migrating, its associated risks, and what can or cannot be achieved with available alternatives.

Whether you're managing an NGO, company or co-op, we will help you make a better move.

What we specialise in

  • translate requirements into actionable roadmaps
  • provide in-depth analyses of suitable alternatives based on your current setup
  • explain technical dilemmas in simple to understand terms
  • outline a migration strategy focused on its advantages, risks and implications
  • help you find seasoned professionals to take on each step of the migration pipeline
  • advise and accompany the configuration and migration process
  • create a tailored training programme for your staff

Let's talk!

We are

Ana Isabel Carvalho and Ricardo Lafuente, professional designers with 15+ years of experience. Our background is in graphic design and web development, and we are committed users and developers of free and open source software. We run a design studio and a data journalism agency, and are co-founders of Portugal's Digital Rights group.

Our money is where our mouth is: for all of our career we sought to find and use alternatives to mainstream and proprietary software, having built a design practice without Adobe software, based on free and open source tools. We also moved away from the proprietary ecosystems of Google, Microsoft, Dropbox and others, having learned about self-hosting our own tools and appreciating the autonomy (and responsibility) brought about by this transition.

We've worked extensively with companies and NGOs, eventually realising that there are many organisations that want to leave restrictive platforms but need professional guidance in navigating the sea of alternatives.
